In Your Dog is Your Mirror: The Emotional Capacity of Our Dogs and Ourselves, Kevin Behan proposes a radical new model for understanding canine behavior: a dog’s behavior and emotion, indeed it’s very cognition, are driven by our emotions. The dog doesn’t respond to its owner based on what the owner thinks, says, or does; it responds to what the owner feels. And in this way, dogs can actually put people back in touch with their own emotions. Meet author and dog trainer Behan who will discuss this concept and read from his book.

This program is presented in cooperation with Westwinds Bookhop, which will have copies of the book available for purchase and signing. Free tickets are required for this event and will be available two weeks in advance at the circulation desk at the Library and and at Westwinds.
