If you are trying to train your dog but have little success using food incentives and rewards this may be because your dog is more toy oriented than food oriented. If this is the case, as it often is, you have many options for the best dog training toys to help get the job done.

One other reason that you need a toy for training is to keep your dog engaged. If you have a high energy breed of dog it is important to use regular play throughout the training to keep your dog focused on you.

Of course the traditional dog training items such as a leash and collar are essential. Have you ever heard of a haltie? It is essentially like a halter for a horse that you can connect your leash to. Unfortunately, their idea of fun may be something that you consider to be destructive behavior. Playing Frisbee with your dog may help to curb some of your dog's destructive behavior by giving your pup an outlet for all of his pent-up energy.

2. Playing Frisbee will also provide both you and your dog with a bit of exercise. This is a great way to help your pet keep in tiptop condition.

Herding dogs are more adept at fetching a Frisbee, but other breeds can certainly be taught. There are even different discs on the market that are suited to different types of dogs. If you want to begin training at an early age, then you should look into purchasing a miniature disc for your puppy as a regular-size disc would be much too large for his tiny mouth.
